31/05/2008 SELLA: AND THREE'S THE CHARM: A WIN IN TIRANO, TOO...
...for Emanuele Sella who hasn't stopped amazing us as he took the third of three splendid climbs on the Giro. After Pampeago and Marmolada, the CSF Navigare rider from Vicenza won the most difficult Alpine stage, all on his own after beginning of the climb on Aprica. At Sella's back was Gilberto Simoni, who was heroic in his all out attempt to overcome the bad day of yesterday and to leave his mark on the Giro. Third, the Spaniard Rodríguez, and fourth Riccò. But the day was a failure for Danilo Di Luca: he lost the wheels of the frontrunners on Mortirolo and just couldn't catch up, left to a lonely descent with the Russian, Karpets. Paradoxically, Contador's day was very quiet. He did well sending Colom on the attack so that he was fresh at his side during the last part of the race. Riccò wasn't able to attack the Spaniard, who by now feels like he owns the Pink jersey. Bruseghin and Pellizotti had excellent races, and respectively climb to third and fourth place in the overall standings.

Finish Order

1. Emanuele Sella (CSF Navigare)
2. Gilberto Simoni (Diquigiovanni) at 1:04
3. Joaquín Rodríguez (Caisse d'Epargne) at 1:22
