This is the second win for the team led by Gianni Savio and Marco Bellini in the most important event on the South American Calendar, the Tour de San Luis. Pro Tour and Professional Continental teams are participating in this event with top athletes, such as the winner of the 2006 Giro d'Italia, Ivan Basso; the ex-U23 World Champion, Grabovskyy; and the current Olympic Track Champion, Juan Curuchet. The Italian-Venezuelan formation raced well, with Jackson Rodriguez attacking at the end, followed by José Serpa for the last gradually climbing kilometre. Serpa won with a 6 s lead on the group controlled by Saxo Bank's Matti Breschel. Mattia Gavazzi placed 3rd.
